商品 Counterfeit “Sagami Original” Condoms Discovered Overseas
Sagami Rubber Industries, Co., Ltd. of Japan has announced the discovery of counterfeit packages of its "flagship" product Sagami Original 0.01 Polyurethane condoms overseas.
"We will keep on strengthening measures against counterfeit products. Meanwhile, we kindly ask customers to exercise caution to avoid purchasing counterfeit items." the company said in a statement.
How to Identify Genuine vs Counterfeit Sagami Original Condoms
Sagami has prepared the following guide to help consumers distinguish between genuine and counterfeit products based on detailed inspections.
Please note that genuine packaging may vary by region or production batch (e.g., both Gold seal and White seal versions are authentic).
Rather than focusing on the seal color, this guide highlights specific differences in printing quality and packaging details that characterize genuine products.

Authenticity should be identified based on printing details such as the front design and logo, not on differences in seal color.
① Packaging Appearance

- Sagami Original Logo
A red-foil “sagami original” logo has more rounded letters.
- Diagonal Sticker
The font and spacing differ.
The horizontal line under the character for “happiness (幸せ)” is longer and the sticker shape has more rounded corners.

- Text Differences
Several item descriptions differ between genuine and counterfeit versions.
② Condom Itself (Thickness, Shape, etc.)
- Shape and tip Form
The condom shape of the semen reservoir tip are designed differently.
The Genuine product has a more gradual sheath shape, while the counterfeit product has a rounded one.
③ Instruction Sheet (Chinese characters in Japanese text)
Note: Counterfeit versions contain wording errors such as “ベニス (Venice)” instead of “ペニス (penis)” and incorrect Chinese characters.
